De Lammie

Welcome aboard the Lammie!

Unique and stylish accommodation in the heart of Rotterdam

Location

The Lammie is berthed in the Veerhaven in Rotterdam’s Scheepvaartkwartier (Shipping Quarter) – one of the city’s most attractive and historic neighbourhoods. Only two-minutes walk from the iconic Erasmus Bridge, the Scheepvaartkwartier is bustling with cafés, coffee-bars, restaurants, bars, ice-cream parlours and bakeries. The boat lies a mere 100 metres away from the Wereldmuseum, with interesting exhibitions and a top-restaurant. The Customs and Excises Museum is a two-minute walk away and Rem Kolhaas’ Kunsthal a mere ten minutes walk. The park by Euromast provides a large green open space and, of course a bird’s-eye view of the city from the top of the 185-metre tower! The Parkheuvel Restaurant in the park has 3 Michelin stars.

Small ferryboats shuttle back and forward across the River Maas to Hotel New York on the South Bank. This is one of Rotterdam’s landmark buildings, with excellent seafood in its characterful restaurant. Also located on the south bank is the film-house Lantaren Venster, the Netherlands Photo Museum and may other restaurants and bars. A stroll over the small bridge by Hotel New York takes you to Katendrecht, the old seafarer’s quarter, with again, many interesting restaurants and cafes. This part of the harbour is still very much in use for the shipment of foodstuffs, and the smell of spices often pervades the air.

The ferryboats, or water-taxi’s arrive and depart from the same pier as the Lammie and can take you quickly, and with much fun, to locations all along the river, including the magnificent ocean-going liner the SS Rotterdam, now moored permanently in Katendrecht and now a hotel and restaurant complex.
